Suppose the numbers in a conventional magic square are replaced by resistors of same ohmic value. The total resistance produced by connecting the resistors in any row, column, or diagonal in series would then be the same. In the paramagic square seen below, the total resistance produced by connecting the resistors in parallel is again the same (120 ohms). An obvious contingency this suggests is that of a square formed of resistors that can be connected either in series or in parallel, and remains magic in both cases. Does such a square exist? I don't know. The best I have managed so far is the following:
